Virtual-, Augmented- & Mixed Reality

Currently low sales, but good future prospects – the industry around the technologies Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Augmented Reality (AR) is young and looks optimistically into the future. This is one of the results of the studies of the TH Köln, in which this branch of industry was scientifically examined for the first time. Mediennetzwerk.NRW commissioned the first survey for North Rhine-Westphalia in 2018. This was followed by a supplementary NRW study in 2019 and the first nationwide XR study in 2020.

• increasing start-up dynamics in the XR industry
• largest XR branch nationwide in NRW with 335 company headquarters
• Areas of activity: Product presentation (63%), training (54%), desig /simulation (50%), information/entertainment (44%)
